IAF navigator Lt.-Colonel Ron Arad, who fell into captivity over Lebanon on October 16, 1986, marks his 50th birthday on Monday, May 5th. Arad has in many ways become the symbol of the captive and missing soldiers.

Despite many conflicting reports over the years, Israel continues to work on the assumption that Arad is alive, hoping that one day, he and other missing soldiers will rejoin their families at home, here in Israel.
