Rav Avraham Tzukerman, 97, is viewed as the elder of the dati leumi community’s rabbonim. Rav David Stav visited Rabbi Tzukerman in his Kfar HaRoeh home on Monday, 24 Tammuz 5773.

Srugim quotes persons who were present for the meeting saying the rav showered Rabbi Stav with brachos and wished him success in his bid to become the next chief rabbi. He also wrote a letter in which he addresses Rav Stav as a talmid chacham and one capable of restoring the stature of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel to its former glory.
