It was clear to Eitan Ralbrook that he did not want to celebrate his Bar Mitzvah at a class party or on a family vacation abroad, and he knew that when he reached the age of mitzvos, he wanted to do something significant for others. Eitan donated a motorcycle to the motorcycle unit of Magen David Adom. With the help of family and friends, he raised money until he managed to donate the required amount to buy a motorcycle.
Eitan gave up a special event or a festive trip abroad for the Bar Mitzvah but was given a special experience. Thanks to his important contribution, the MDA Friends of Israel invited him to a special fundraising event in Los Angeles. Participating in the event, young Eitan went on stage and spoke about his contribution, and thus gave great inspiration to donors from all over the world.
On the motorcycle that he donated with them, a volunteer in MDA, Len Markoshovich, a member of the Shivtei Israel community in Ra’anana, where Eitan and his family are members, took the opportunity to save lives. They decided to dedicate it in memory of the rav of the community.
“I thought to myself about my Bar Mitzvah, and I understood that the way I want to mark my arrival to mitzvos is to contribute to the community and save lives,” Eitan said. “By using the motorcycle that I donated, I know that patients will receive medical treatment quickly, and the sense of satisfaction that I have is simply tremendous”.
“I am very pleased with the knowledge that every day a motorcycle travels quickly to save lives, and this due to the journey we have made with them,” said Efrat, Eitan’s mother. I am pleased that Eitan has learned from this process, to help to change our world. I am proud of Eitan, who embarked on a journey of giving and succeeded in it and hopes that he will inspire other children and youths to do for the other”.
