During the night of motzei Shabbos, security forces including police and border police faced violent disturbances in a number of areas of East Jerusalem. Rocks were hurled at security forces and fireworks were thrown at them by Arab residents.

During the violence, six persons were taken into custody by police, who report they were directing attacks against the Jerusalem light rail, resulting in the smashing of a number of windows of train cars. In addition, two policemen sustained light injury.
