Many are waiting to hear MK Ayelet Shaked’s decision regarding her political future. On erev Shabbos, Shaked sent a WhatsApp message to supporters, instructing them to gather their strength as the storm lies ahead. She explained that at present, no party has really begun campaigning.
Shaked has a number of options available to her, including the return to the New Right party which she and Naftali Bennet started, as Bennet has even announced she can lead the party and he will take the number two slot. The party in the last election failed to meet the minimum election threshold to enter Knesset, falling short by some 1200 seats.
The chairman of the Bayit Yehudi party, Rabbi Rafi Perez, has invited Shaked to return, offering her the number two slot, behind him. Moshe Feiglin, who chairs the Zehut party, has also spoken of a merger involving Shaked. She may also launch a new party or take a break from pollical life. At present, polls show she enjoys a significant electoral popularity.
