When I saw it for the first time by a Chasidishe Chasunah, I was also surprised. However, since then, my 3 children who are now married were all told by me to hold hands out of the Chupah. I never understood the scene that takes place at all the Yeshivisha Chasunahs. Right after the Chupah is over and they’re walking to the Yichud room, they’re dancing wildly with their friends, separated by people pushing over each other to get in a hug. They waited their whole lives for this moment, let them celebrate with each other.
