Over 100,000 yidden around the globe look forward to experiencing The Siyum of Daf Yomi, which will be hosted by The Agudah for the thirteenth time in world history. While the simcha and anticipation are felt by all of Klal Yisroel, none feel it as potently as those who have been Lomdei HaDaf for the longest periods of time.
Learning the Daf has transformed all of Klal Yisroel since HaRav Meir Schapira zt”l introduced this revolutionary concept at The Agudah’s Knessiah Gedolah in Vienna; and it has transformed the lives of every lomeid, especially the Lomdei HaDaf.
No doubt, the senior-most Lomdei HaDaf of the 13th worldwide Siyum HaShas have benefitted from the Daf’s greatest impact. This inspires them and their generations of offspring – among the rest of Klal Yisroel.
Leading psychologist Rabbi Dr. Yosef Shimon Rosenshein, a trailblazer in our community’s mental health and educational realm for decades, shares how he has not missed learning the Daf for even one day since 1961. I seriously dont know what to make of this story. Did he call the Agudah office to tell them ? There is material in Pirkei Avos discussing why one should not brag about his learning for that is what we were created for, etc.
Wow!!! I hope to be finishing my second daf yomi cycle this coming January but there have been times when I have fallen behind by as much as a week!
Talmidchochom you don’t seem so smart. All he’s saying is how long he’s been doing the daf and when he has his shiur. Any promotional event for a “product” will always interview long time customers. Halevai we should all be zoche to finish shas 8 or 9 times.
Manishma misses the point ENTIRELY. Learning torah or torah itself is NOT a product We are expected to “use this product” as an integral part of our life. Seriously doubt that Dr Rosenshein is the only such person. This is our life. Lots of living jews out there.
