After completing studies and exams, 286 bnei Torah last week took part in a festive event in Jerusalem’s Inbal Hotel. They received semicha from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, יורה יורה from Chief Rabbi Yonah Metzger. The newly appointed rabbonim studied in דרכי הוראה לרבנים, headed by HaRav HaGaon Yosef Eliyahu Shlita, a son of late Rishon L’Tzion Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu ZT”L. The students were tested in their proficiency in Halacha in the laws of
שבת, איסור והיתר, טהרה, מקוואות, שמחות, חופה וקידושין, עירובין, הלכות סת”ם, מצוות התלויות בארץ, תפילה וברכות,שחיטה וטריפות, מילה וגירות ועוד.
In addition, some of the students present were certified as dayanim as they also completed Eban Ezer and Choshen Mishpat.
Among the prominent rabbonim present were Chief Rabbi Metzger, Tzfas Chief Sephardi Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, and Rabbi David Kaduri.
