Are there levels of holiness?
June 6, 2019 11:06 am at 11:06 am #1739510YusselParticipantNo.
June 6, 2019 11:16 am at 11:16 am #1739482Reb EliezerParticipantKorach believed that no leader is necessary because we are all holy on the same level. People are judged above according the level of their holiness. Kodoshim is holier than truma. A kohen is holier than a yisroel. There are twenty five leveks of the neshomo. When he fights his yetzer hora and he defeats it, he gets a higher level of neshomo because the yetzer hora can’t be stronger he can take. See the Sefer Habris.

June 6, 2019 11:17 am at 11:17 am #1739507YsiegelParticipantWhat do you mean by “holiness”?
June 6, 2019 12:54 pm at 12:54 pm #1739540Reb EliezerParticipantSefer Habris Chelek 2 Maamar 1 Perek 3. You must start reading from Perek 1 as there is no Table of Contents because he builds on the previous chapters.
June 6, 2019 12:54 pm at 12:54 pm #1739542ubiquitinParticipantOf course
Example both a mezuza and sefer Torah have kedusha, yet they are not equal.
both Tefilin shel yad and shel rosh have kedusha, but again not equal. Practically this has reclassification, for example starps for tefilin shel yad can be elevated to shel rosh but not the reverse. Maalin bekodehs velo moridin, we go up in levels of kedusha – holiness but not down
June 6, 2019 3:19 pm at 3:19 pm #1739592Sam KleinParticipantSure there are many levels of holiness.
do YOU think your on the same level of holiness as Harav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita? Or as your father for that matter, who are both alive longer then you and serving Hashem longer with learning and mitzvos etc… thus much holier
Take out a sefer nefesh Hachaim and learn all the levels of holiness

June 6, 2019 3:20 pm at 3:20 pm #1739620LightbriteParticipant….or is holiness something that either is or isn’t.
June 6, 2019 4:30 pm at 4:30 pm #1739673QuayboardwarriorParticipantYes. 50 levels.
Tumah is the absence of kedusha within a “kli” that can hold kedusha. For example, a non Jewish corpse isn’t tamei meis as it never had the ability to have kedusha in the first place.
The 50 levels of tumah (that we’re told by Yetzias Mitzrayim the hidden were at the 49th level), are levels of kedusha we potentially could have achieved. So the yidden were essentially lacking in 49 levels of kedusha.
June 6, 2019 9:47 pm at 9:47 pm #1739775Reb EliezerParticipantA Jew has the highest level of kedusha, so the when the kedusha leaves, the absence creates the highest level of tumah.
June 6, 2019 10:52 pm at 10:52 pm #1739811samthenylicParticipantAs per a different thread, “why there are 49 Tochochos in P. Bechukosai, and 49 in P. Ki Sovoi?
BECAUSE: By yezias Micrayim, HKB”H took us out of 49 Shaarei Tumah, and till Shavuos we had to reach the 49 Shaari Kedusha. We didn’t manage it, we get 49 Tochochos.
During Elul, we have to get out of 49 Shaarei Tumah, and get into 49 Shaarei Kedusha. We don’t accomplish it, we get 09 Tochochos…
Therefore RASHI on “Atem Nizavim” says that the Yidden were scared “their faces turned yellow” from fright” From hearing the 147 Tochochos. “who can survive these?” Etc…..June 7, 2019 12:52 am at 12:52 am #1739812The little I knowParticipantThis question is actually multifaceted, and cannot be properly answered in brief. The kedusha of an object is categorically different than the kedusha of a person, or a place, or a time. Being qualitatively different, we are unable to compare them at all. As for a person, the kedusha is completely bound to his madraigoh, which has nothing to do with his external appearance or impression. The kedusha of a simple person can be far greater than the known talmid chochom. Just that mortal man has no way to assess these things, and our discussion of such matters borders on what one sees when blind ch”v.
Some describe kedusha as the degree of connection between that person, object, etc. with HKB”H. The variables in those equations are many and beyond human comprehension. We all start off with a neshomoh that is a Cheilek Elokah Memaal. What we do with it matters much.
June 7, 2019 12:54 am at 12:54 am #1739827DrYiddParticipantlook at levels of kedusha from the land of Israel, up until the Kodesh haKadoshim.

Your comment contained several mistakes, but I think I got your point anyway. The tochacha of Bechukosai has 49 klalos. The tochacha in Ki Savo has 98.
