The Ministry of Health decided to assist in funding the expansion of the emergency room at Shaare Zedek Hospital, as a written commitment in which the Ministry of Health approved the transfer of a monetary grant to the hospital for the upgrading of the current emergency room has been issued. The announcement was signed by professionals at the Health Ministry.
The sum of the total financial assistance will amount to several tens of millions of shekels and will be divided between the Ministry of Health and the Jerusalem Development Authority. Shaare Zedek committed itself to raising one-third of the costs.
The state funding will permit the opening of the new emergency room at the end of 2020, as part will open, according to estimates, later this year.
The first meeting of the steering committee was held this week in Shaare Tzedek to deal with the new setting up the new expanded emergency room, including the Deputy Director of Medicine, the Deputy Chief Financial Officer, the Deputy Director General for Operations, the Director of Logistics, and the Logistics Manager.
Later on, sub-committees will be set up to deal with various issues related to the expansion of the classification. These will include engineers, architects and professionals from various fields who will deal with structural questions and the proper flow of patients into the screening. The committee is supposed to meet once a month.
