Chief Rabbi Yonah Metzger has been questioned by police ‘under caution’, facing allegations of accepting bribes, breach of trust and money laundering. Police raided the chief rabbi’s home and office and he was summoned to police to give a statement.
This is not the first time that Rabbi Metzger has been involved with police. He has been questioned for accepting bribes in the past and his tenure as chief rabbi and the years preceding is election have been stained numerous times.
State Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein gave the green light for police to raid his home and office based on the evidence in hand. State Prosecutor Moshe Lador reports documents and computers were confiscated during the police raids as well as bank statements which Lador indicates support allegations against the chief rabbi.
Being questioned ‘under caution’ generally means police have sufficient evidence to move ahead with a criminal indictment.

Isnt this considered Lashon Hara or Avak Lashon Hara? why should this be posted?
still waiting for them to shame olmert, libermen and their likes… the same way they go against state rabbonim.
This is just lovely. Do you know what this looks like in the eyes of the world? It makes yesterday’s article about the anti-Semitic rant in a Catskills newspaper with its truthful complaints look like Babes in Toyland.
It’s just a witch hunt.He’s a terrific Rabbi & Mench.
Why publicize it so prominently ?
He is a threat for those wishing to take his postition, therfore they opened a case to insure he has no chance or re-running
Maybe they want to prove they aren’t bigots. They plan to arrest the hareidim rabbanim (for inciting Bnei Yeshiva to resist conscriptions), so to prove they aren’t bigots, they want to arrest some of the more modern rabbanim as well.
I wonder when they’ll get to people like rabbis Stav, Piron and Lipman (but by then, who’ll be left to complain)?
#5-
1. The law does not permit him to run again. The Amar bill contemplated allowing that but has been withdrawn by Sha”s.
2. Even before the bill was withdrawn it seems unlikely that harav Metzger would be perceived as a viable ‘threat’ to anyone’s candidacy, bemichilah mikvodo.
3. While you never know about hangers-on and entourages, I firmly believe that the candidates themselves are all far above doing what you describe.
3. Do you have any hard information or is this mere speculation and ill will, flinging mud in the hope that it will stick to someone?
