Perhaps with the exception of Egged, no one is pleased with the new Rav Kav smart card system that replaced the old “kartisiya” to ride Egged buses. The cards are problematic for many in addition to making it extremely difficult to monitor how many rides are remaining.
It appears that many riders have complained that while boarding buses during the 90 minute free period, the Egged computer deducts another ride from their smart card when it shouldn’t. Once one pays for a bus ride, one is entitled to get on and off buses for a 90 minute period without being charged again.
Riders explain that unlike other bus companies, Egged stopped printing receipts so it is becoming increasingly difficult to monitor when the card is charged for a ride and when they ride for free. One must have a keen eye and be quick enough to get a look at the small screen which the driver views.
Egged spokesman Ron Ratner explains that “in our digital era, Egged does not print paper receipts without a need to do so. However, if a rider requests one, the driver will comply.”
Egged adds that complaints are unjustified and baseless.
YWN-ISRAEL checked this by trying to obtain on a number of Jerusalem buses and in reality, drivers responded “sorry, I am out of paper” and so ended an effort to obtain a printed receipt.

I take the bus about 3 times a day a got 100s of sheckels stolen from me
Indeed Egged is a shameless behemoth that is used to taking advantage of it’s customers
If a driver doesn’t give a receipt when requested, such as when he doesn’t refill his register with paper, Egged should be fined 5000 NIS and the money given to the passenger for denying his rights.

It’s about time Egged drivers were required to wear identifying badges so we can report or compliment them on their actions.
Ben david I agree with u, esp on the point of tags! To get a mispar ishi from an egged driver is harder than getting water out of a rock!
Rav Kav looks like a police plot to track the movements of the general population. There should be a legislative discussion about things like this and we should not accept without examination the sanctimonious claims by cops and spies that it’s for national security or even their claims to expertise.
