Bochrim from the yeshiva of HaRav Blatt in Modi’in Illit were arrested Thursday night by police due to a confrontation that broke out over the burning of bonfires and a barbecue in a city square.
The bochrim, who are talmidim at a yeshiva on Beit Shammai Blvd in Modi’in Illit, went to a nearby grove where they started a bonfire as part of the Lag B’Omer celebrations. They clashed with police and some were detained and placed in the police car. Their friends, who knew that some of them are AWOL from the IDF, opened the door of the car from outside, permitting the bochrim to make a run for it.
Police realized what occurred shortly after the detainees fled, and they left the scene without making additional arrests.
