Speaking at the Agudas Yisrael kenos, Yaakov Litzman stated, “We still don’t have an agreement. We must maintain the election campaign offices – Regarding Rav Yigal Rosen: “I don’t think it is respectable for someone to say that our Admorim Kedoshim do not know what the law says”.
Addressing the Agudas Yisrael kenos in Kibbutz Chafetz Chaim on Tuesday evening, Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman in his address gave a wrap-up of the Knesset election. He also addressed the recent comments by Rav Yigal Rosen, Rosh Yeshivas Ohr Yisrael regarding the Gerre Rebbe Shlita and the Moetzas Gedolei Torah of Agudas Yisrael.
He began by explaining “I don’t have good news as a coalition agreement has not been signed”. Hence, he explained the election campaign offices must be maintained, signaling new elections are still a possibility. Litzman explained there are important issues that are still being discussed, including the draft, Shabbos and education. He emphasized that “nothing has changed” and the negotiating team remains loyal to the instructions received from the Moetzas Gedolei Torah.
Regarding comments made by Rav Rosen, Litzman stated, “I am told that one of the rabbonim stated the members of the Moetzas Gedolei Torah do not understand the law. I am compelled to object to his words… the Admorim Kedoshim and the members of the Moetzas Gedolei Torah know how to dissect the situation regarding everything they are asked and therefore, I do not think that it is respectful for one to say that our Admorim do not know what the law says. I advise him to be careful with his words”.
Litzman added they remain loyal to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, and that just like other parties have demands, the same is the case with their party, calling on coalition partners to respect their requests. “Don’t believe everything. We do not respond to everything. I don’t know, WhatsApp, SmatsApp, I don’t know if you know Hashem…”
Litzman emphasized that they are simply the shluchim of the Admorim and will do as instructed. “We are not afraid to head to elections” he added, sending a message to Likud party coalition negotiators regarding the reality of their demands.
