An Israel Police dispatcher on Sunday received a report that an elderly woman had been robbed on Shikma Street in Bat Yam. A passersby caught the suspect and managed to seize the stolen property but the suspect escaped. The elderly woman, a 70-year-old Bat Yam resident, whose property was returned to her, did not need medical treatment.
Police forces arrived at the scene within minutes of receiving the report, opened an investigation into the incident and a few hours later arrested a suspect, a 33-year-old resident of the city.
On Monday, the suspect was brought to the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court, where the police asked to extend his remand.
