Bennett: I don’t See Peace on the Horizon

bennEconomics Minister (Bayit Yehudi) Naftali Bennett in comments made on Tuesday, 3 Tammuz 5773 stated “I don’t see peace on the horizon,” adding “The entire Middle East is falling apart before our very eyes and no one is registering for the Zionist Federation.”

Bennett was commenting on the media frenzy surrounding remarks released by Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Danon, announcing the current cabinet does not have a majority supporting the so-called two-state solution, namely the establishment of the State of Palestine alongside Israel.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was quick to distance himself with Danon’s remarks, which are obviously a far cry from the viewpoint of the Americans or the Europeans, and apparently, even many Israelis.

One government official who spoke out condemning Danon is Justice Minister (The Movement) Tzipi Livni, who spoke of the “Danonism” and the threat his viewpoint poses to “peace efforts”. Danon told Knesset Channel TV that he makes no apologies or clarifications for his remarks, and stands behind every word. He questioned why the media frenzy over Livni’s remarks, asking “why is her viewpoint automatically viewed as acceptable while mine is not?”

Back to Bennett, and his comments on the quid pro quo between Bennett, Danon and the right-wing vision of a Greater Land of Israel.

Bennett feels that too many have lost the most basic concept, that “Eretz Yisrael is Ours,” and we may have been lost in the abyss of ongoing talks of “peace” and dual existence, leading many to forget that we are the rightful owners of the Land of Israel.
