The state has canceled its state witness agreement with Mickey Ganor in the case against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu known as ‘Case 3000’.
According to a report from Yisrael Hayom correspondent Yehuda Schlesinger, in a letter sent to Ganor’s attorney on Tuesday morning, the state prosecutor informed attorney Liat Ben Ari Shwekey the deal has been canceled.
The reason for the cancellation is due to the fact that various versions were submitted that differed in a substantive manner from previous versions submitted shortly after the signing of the agreement and because of the damage to its reliability deriving from the delivery of this new version.
In addition, from March 23, 2019 until the release of Ganor to house arrest, Ganor decided to stop cooperating and began to maintain the right to remain silent – an action that in itself violates his obligations under the agreement.
After considering the arguments of Ganor’s attorneys, it was decided to cancel the agreement with the state with all the implications thereof, including the ability to use any evidence gathered before, after, or as a result of the signing of the agreement including using Ganor’s own messages against him and against others and all the documents he provided.
As we recall, a month and a half ago, a major drama developed in the case of 3000 – when central witness Mickey Ganor retracted his testimony and was arrested by Israel Police Lahav Major Crimes Unit 433 investigators.
Following that incident, the Israel Police reported, the police and the State Attorney’s Office announced that they would consider whether there was room to cancel the agreement signed by the state. Clearly, the final decision was made.
The Movement for Quality Government applauded the move, issuing the following statement. “We welcome the cancellation of the lenient and scandalous state agreement signed with Mickey Ganor in one of the most serious security cases known to the State of Israel, and we reiterate our call to order the establishment of a government commission of inquiry to investigate the affair.”
“Case 3000” does not directly involve Netanyahu, as it involves a list of businessmen, lawyers, and officials in the security organizations in Israel, and their connection to a deal made between Israel and Germany in what may be a bribed deal, for the purchase of three Dolphin-class submarines for the Israel Navy.
