Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu heads the Social-Economic Cabinet which includes ten cabinet ministers. Among the ten, in addition to the prime minister there are Ministers Yair Lapid, Naftali Bennett, Yuval Steinitz, Tzipi Livni, Silvan Shalom, Gideon Saar and Gilad Erdan.

The cabinet on Sunday, 2 Rosh Chodesh Tammuz 5773 discussed expanding the body, voting to do so. It was to have discussed this a week ago but it was shelved after Lapid protested not being briefed by the prime minister while attending an economic conference in France.

The ministers voted to add Chairman of the National Economic Council, the director generals of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Finance Ministry, and the Finance Ministry Budget Director to the list of those permanently invited to Socio-Economic Cabinet meetings.
