Avoiding outstanding parking tickets will get you the boot — literally.
The city is bringing back the car booting system to replace the traditional tow for drivers owing at least $350 in fines.
According to the Department of Finance, booting is a better option because drivers can pay their debt and retrieve their cars quicker. The new system allows you to pay your fines by phone. The boot will then self-release and you have two days to return the boot to the city before your vehicle is towed.
Booting will officially begin by the end of July.
