Orange & Rockland Utilities continues to focus on a gas service line as the possible cause of Tuesday’s explosion at Nyack College.
O&R has confirmed today that the gas service line appeared to be damaged prior to the explosion.
O&R told News 12 that it used an industrial vacuum truck to uncover a section of a gas service pipe that appeared to be recently excavated. A visual examination of the pipe revealed damage consistent with that pipe being struck and pulled by heavy equipment like a backhoe.
That section of pipe was handed over to the authorities who are investigating the explosion.
