SECURITY/DEFENSE:
*Firebomb attack against a Jewish motorist near el-Hader Jct. in Gush Etzion on Sunday night. No injuries.
*A Kassam rocket slammed into a Sderot home at about 3pm Sunday, resulting in serious property damage. Other rockets pounded southern Israel on Sunday as well, with at least one landing in a cemetery.
*Terrorists on Sunday morning fired at soldiers patrolling near Gaza’s Karnei Crossing. No injuries.
*A Grad rocket fired from northern Gaza landed in an open area near Zikim on Sunday morning. No injuries.
*5 PA residents suspected of terrorist activities were arrested in the Bet Lechem area on Saturday night.
*Saturday night: Near a sentry post in Elkana in Shomron, an Arab male was shot and lightly wounded in a lower extremity when he failed to comply with instructions to halt.
*Saturday night: Two infiltrators from Gaza were apprehended in Kissufim. No injuries.
*Kassam rockets were fired into southern Israel on Shabbos. No injuries.
POLITICS, DOMESTIC & MORE:
*Rav Mordechai Eliyahu on Shabbos suffered a major heart attack and was transported to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Yerushalayim. He underwent a coronary bypass and is reported in serious/stable condition. HaRav Eliyahu’s name for tefillos is Mordechai Tzemach ben Mazel Tov. He is 80-years-old.
*Shas MK Shlomo Benizri sentenced to 1.5 years in prison following his recent conviction on fraud and bribery charges.
*Omri Sharon on Sunday received his first 48-hour furlough from prison.
*Hamas leader Khaled Meshal on Sunday threatened Israel if Jerusalem rejects ceasefire offer, there will be an escalation of violence.
*Israel: If Hamas halts attacks, the IDF will cease operations in Gaza. There is no need for a ceasefire.
*Yossi Harel, who brought Jews to Israel illegally in pre-state days, including the SS Exodus, died on Shabbos in Tel Aviv at the age of 90.
