Movement for Quality Government: Draft Bnei Yeshivos Immediately

ponThe Movement for Quality Government is turning to the Supreme Court in an effort to compel the government to draft bnei yeshivos immediately. The movement states “the matter demands immediate attention” since the draft law is being decided upon at present.

The Peri Share the Burden Committee has already approved the draft law, which is now being addressed by a ministerial committee headed by MK (Bayit Yehudi) Ayelet Shaked. After receiving committee approval, the bill will move to the cabinet and Knesset.

During the interim, the petition states that in line with the Supreme Court ruling of the summer of 2012, disqualifying the Tal Law, the government is compelled to immediately draft 35,000 bnei yeshivos since there is no law preventing their draft. They once received a deferment from military service by declaring limud Torah as their fulltime profession, but this is no longer valid since the Tal Law has been abolished.

  1. Even if you agree that Chareidi bochurim should be obligated to either serve in the IDF or perform some service on behalf of the medinah, implementation of rules for such a program will take some time and should not be implemented immediately. The current schedule, which would begin the draft in the Fall after Rosh Hashanah is should be maintained. A few months delay will ensure the new program will go smoothly with minimal disruption.

  2. sorry to dismay you ‘godalhadorah’- we don’t make compromises when it comes to the Torah even if it may disrupt a government program.

  3. To No. 2…

So you would rather see kollel yungerleit drafted “immediately”?? I don’t think that makes any sense, even among your “share the burden” chevrah. A few months delay will not be such a big deal

yesh manhig lebira! and it’s definitely not the 120 kofrim sitting in knesset haminim! hashem has his ways how to take care of those who are moired bahashem vetoirosoi!
but we in the free world! (who are not locked under that regime in EY) have many ways thru international law to stop them, and b”h it’s in the works now, tomorrow’s protest is just the beginning and be”h once and for all to put those dictators into place

  5. Those calling for conscription of the Bnei Yeshiva are reshaim. If forced to choose between a secular zionists state that opposes learning Torah and harasses people for doing mitsvos, and a non-Jewish state that tolerate Torah and MItsvos, Torah Jews will prefer Torah and Mitsvos over having an independent state.

If this “show” is not closed soon, it will be the the first act of a play whose end will be the destruction of the State of Israel. Just as we defeated Haman, and Pharoh, and the Misyavanim and their Greek allies, and even the Roman and the Nazis (note that for all the problems they caused, we are alive and well, and they are no longer in existence) – we will defeat the hiloni zionists and their Dati Leumi stooges.

  6. Akuperma, is someone at Satmar of NK giving you brownie points for being the all-time high scorer for anti medina posts? Your black and white stingy view of no compromises, and your veiled comparison of Zionists and DLs to Romans and Nazi shows you to a putrid ignoramus devoid of any darchei noam. Odd that you mention the Greeks and the Misyavnim. How different are they from your fantasized Arab sovereignty in EY? The chashmonaim were the zionists of their day, and they were ultimately great haters and bloody oppressors of the Hareidi leadership of the time, yet chazal took Jewish sovereignty as a really positive big deal. DO NOT, Akuperma, celebbrate Chanuka, it would be a stain on your consistency.

  7. To No. 6

Yes, the Ebeshter has his ways of making his will known and one of those ways is to communicate through his gadolim (aka Rav Kanievsky, shlita and Rav Shteinman, shlita) that absolutely prohibits attendance at this disgusting demonstration that will be a big chillul hashem and create a terrible image in America of the chareidi community. (See, e.g. local media coverage entitled >>”Draft Dodgers in Black Hats”>>

  8. twisted: Chanukah was about a bunch of hareidim defeating the equivalents of Lapid and Bennett. Those who favored a modern state lost, and those who favored a state based on Torah and Mitsvos won.

While Purim suggests that when fighting enemies who want to kill all the Jews, we should rely on tefilah and tseuvah – Hanukah suggests that when fighting enemies who oppose Torah, we need “this worldly” sorts of methods since a decree against Torah is not Min ha-Shamayim. In the current situation, that suggests civil disobedience and massed resistance.

Gadolhadorah : Almost all “draft dodgers” (those who evade by lying and cheating) are frei. Satmar, and increasingly many rabbanim who until now were happy to work with the zionists, are calling for DRAFT RESISTANCE. As this become known, many people in the western world who also are opposed to war will likely come to see us favorably, unlike today when they believe that the typical frum Jews is a right-wing fanatic who occupies Arab land without paying for it, and takes pleasure in randomly shooting Arabs and tearing down their houses. Satmar and the Eidah Hareidis has always been for PEACE rather than war, going back to the early 1920s when De Haan was murdered to derail the last serious attempt to maintain peace — and frankly much of the world favors peace over war. Thus the DRAFT RESISTANCE and pending CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE is a tremendous KIDDUSH HA-SHEM.
