After several days of sunny, dry and comfortably warm June weather, meteorologists say the tri-state forecast is about to turn damp. Forecasters say the remains of Andrea, the first tropical storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, will approach from the south, bringing heavy rain to much of the region on Friday.
The storm is expected to dump up to 3 inches of water in some spots before the clouds move out, bringing the chance for street and highway flooding in low-lying areas.
Forecasters say the heaviest rain will likely fall late Friday afternoon. Downpours will transition to steady rain that will taper off late Friday night or early Saturday.
