So if I walk in with a kippah srugah, I’ll pay less?

Amazon Price: $25.99 per pound. But it has bad reviews: “baked in the Ukraine – came broken into tiny pieces”

    #1715605

Hand made shmura oatmeal matzos are $10 PER MATZA (A box of 3 matzos is $30) in KRM.

Just in case you weren’t joking, ‘chareidim’ is a matzah bakery.

In Israel they’re anywhere between 60 shekel and 120. I recall even hearing rumors of 150 for a kilo but not likely…

Israel, kilos; USA, pounds. Make note of the difference when doing the math.

DavidHamelech: If you are paying Jeff Bezos $25/lb for Shmurah Matzoh Meal, I have a really outstanding bridge to sell you that according to chazal will be the bridge that moishiach will cross on his way from the upper West Side to Eastern Parkway.

For those who bought from Bingo….
are they thick matzas? how many per pound?

if you have had them before, do they taste oily, like olives? If EY most bakeries use olive wood which lends an olivey taste to the matza.

The costco matzohs are absolutely horribke this year. They tasted very old and rancid.

Crisp Them. Put them in the oven at 300 F for about three minutes. It should help.

I went to a store in Monsey who was having a special. I got from the Monsey Matzah Bakery, under R’ Yechiel Steinmetz, for $17/lb.

I paid $32 for a one-pound box of Ukrainian shmurah matzah. The product cost $19 and shipping was $13. I used the same store in Brooklyn as last year, and the same shipper, since the quality was acceptable last year.

I pay 80 shekel per kilo

In Bnei Brak prices go as high as 50 shekel PER MATZAH if baked erev pesach after chatzos hayom
Think that’s a high price? Well, it’s matzas mitzvah where one wants the best of the best. It’s not like just choosing a wife.

I was not aware that olive wood can deliver an olivey taste to the matzah. I’ve been in Israel for decades, first time I’ve heard that and I’ve definitely never tasted a difference. Very interesting.

“It’s not like just choosing a wife.” – please clarify. Do you choose the cheapest wife available (or alternatively, the wife that is baked erev pessach after chatzos – my husband tells me I am half baked, but doesn’t say when I was baked).

I was in Osher Ad in Givat Shaul [next to Har Nof] today and they were selling Malchus Eida matzos for NIS 60 a kilo, that is about $7.60 per pound.

    $12/lb round hand Shmurah matzah from Cedar Market Teaneck. I feel that many people spend a lot of time, energy, money, and devotion towards XYZ matzah baked exclusively by Rav XYZ, and similar concept for their wine selection, but forget that (perhaps) the main and largest mitzvah of the night is Magid. I love a great wine at a wedding or restaurant during the year, but the seder is the opportunity for me to spend more time and devotion of resources towards Tzippur yeszias Mitzrayim with my children. Let’s remember what the Ikkur is! {And for those that say you can do both- sure, I don’t doubt you. Just make sure to look forward to the mitzvos of the night more-so than a fine Non-Mevushal Argentinian wine which you’ll forget about in a week}

    The shul Rav gets $500
    The Chabad Rabbi gets $180
    The rest we bake ourselves

It would be much cheaper to just buy it. But, the baking experience for my grandchildren is very important. Mrs. CTL and I came from the bakery business

We buy 1 kilo for the 7 day chag. I’m the only one that eats it after the first day, and I have no problems finishing all that by myself. I love hand-made shmura matza.
