Nachal Chareidi Soldier Seeks 100,000 NIS Compensation from Channel 10

idffnA Nachal Chareidi soldier has turned to attorney Sharon Goshen in an effort to have a video showing his unit training in the Jordan Valley removed from the Channel 10 News website. The soldier is also seeking 100,000 NIS in compensation from the news station.

Goshen explains the soldier asked not to be photographed but he appears in the video despite the request and objections to his inclusion. Goshen points out that the blurring of the faces was insufficient and the soldier has been identified and it has caused him “irreparable damage” in his home and in his community. Goshen explains the 100,000 NIS is an effort to reach a settlement out of court.

  1. Interesting. Already ashamed at being in the IDF. And concerned about what people who watch television will say (since most “fanatics” wouldn’t be watching).

  2. He is NOT ashamed of being in the IDF. He is (sadly) afraid of the sickos who may attack him for it. I don’t blame him.

  3. #1, Chochom, you missed the point. He should be able to take whatever career choice he wants. He is benefitting Klal Yisroel and learning skills that he could actually support a family and be able to learn too.

The craziness of his community is the problem, not him.

  4. #5, Barry, if his career choice was to be a Franciscan galach, you wouldn’t be singing that same tune. It is no different here.

  5. Zionism is also Avoda Zora, as the Brisker Rov so often stated. So serving them is being an Oved Avoda Zara.
