The Asbury Park Press reports: Gunfire in the quiet, tree-lined neighborhood behind Lakewood Middle School frightened residents out of their sleep early Wednesday, when about a half-dozen shots were fired from one car at another car.
Police — who are investigating several other recent gunshot incidents — responded immediately but were unable to apprehend anyone from the dark-colored vehicle witnesses reported seeing.
About 3 a.m. Wednesday, the shots were fired on Stirling Avenue after the targeted vehicle had pulled over to let passengers out, according to police Detective Lt. Joseph Isnardi.
