New York State Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein voted last week against the New York State budget revenue bill due to its inclusion of congestion pricing. Congestion pricing puts another financial burden on hard working New Yorkers who are already having a hard time making ends meet.
“Our transit system needs alternative funding streams to succeed in the 21st century and beyond, but it cannot come on the backs of hardworking and struggling middle class families,” said Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein.
Assemblyman Eichenstein took a moment off of the chamber floor during budget debate to record a video explaining his opposition to congestion pricing.

Thank you Simcha for standing up to those trying to balance the budget by tolling the middle class and trying to turn parts of NYC into an exclusive zone.
Thank you SImcha.
Instead of continuously increasing our taxes – whether via congestion pricing, higher tolls, etc – let them get the MTA to do their job within the budget allotted to them. That’s how the typical business works. You make do with your income. But the MTA, as other NY agencies do, just stick their hands into Mr. Public’s pocket to cover for their shortcomings. Enough already.
And now Simcha – if you can get the new gezeirah against plastic bags in the grocery stores abolished – that would be great. It is obvious that these elected officials don’t ever go shopping. How will we bag our vegetables and fruit selections? And then how will we carry all our purchases home? Paper bags without handles? That rip from the weight? And what about carrying them in the rain? CRAZY !!!
