Member of the Shas Moetzas Chachmei HaTorah HaGaon HaRav David Yosef Shlita spoke out harshly against Yahadut Hatorah on Monday, a day before elections for 21st Knesset. “Why is it that each election they come like beggars seeking our votes,” stated the rav.
During a Shas election rally in Bnei Brak, with the participation of HaGaon HaRav Shalom Cohen, head of the Shas Moetzas Chachmei HaTorah, Rav David Yosef addressed the event, speaking out harshly against Yahadut Hatorah’s efforts to attract voters from the Shas camp.
“Rabbosai,” began Rav Yosef. “My father was a posek of halacha. He ruled that one must vote for Shas and only Shas, not for any other political party! Why vote gimmel? We have our own! I call on Ashkenazim who are aware of the major enterprise of Shas to vote Shas!”
He added, “In recent years, Shas built shuls and mikvaos around the country, spending NIS 700 million. Only Shas does this! The Shas party has a marvelous educational network. We have over 200 talmidei torah, and 50,000 talmidim.
“Why go seeking in foreign fields? Why is it that each election they come like beggars and seek votes? What do they think? We have our own. We have our self-respect! Any sephardi with a drop of self-respect will vote Shas. Psak halacha!”
Rav Yosef concluded, “When I hear what is happening in recent days, how is it that the enterprise of Maran is in danger? Yesterday, I stood at Maran’s kever and cried ‘Abba Abba, come back and daven for us.’ If he was living today, he would beg and cry that chalila, the large enterprise will collapse. There is not a lot of time remaining. We must take advantage of the hours remaining to act and assist”.

jews will never vote ONE block.
I’d be very grateful if Shas would also fund the removal of the thousands of their stickers that have been stuck all over our Jerusalem neighbourhood on public and private property.
Shas would greatly improve its status if it would remove Aryeh Deri from the position of chairman and stick him back in jail where he belongs, remove Itamar Tubul from heading the Rabbanut’s Conversion Department and remove all its lackeys from the Misrad HaDatot so there is no more politicization of the Rabbanut and Judaism as a whole.
