IDF Begins Voting, Polls On Bases To Stay Open for 72 Hours

The IDF began voting for the 21st Knesset on Saturday night. Soldiers will continue casting their ballots until Tuesday as bases around the country will have voting at different times based upon their active service schedule.

The first unit to vote was that of the Special Operations Unit of the Engineering Corps. known as Yahalom. Their bases opened the polls on Saturday night and their soldiers were the first in line to cast their ballots. Some 640 ballot boxes will be opened on bases across the country and soldiers will have 72 hours to cast their ballots across 7 segments of the military (Northern Command, Central Command, Southern Command, Home Front Command, The Ground Forces Command, Naval Command, and the Air Force).

An IDF SPokesperson said: The various command divided into 55 additional segments, in which officers were appointed to oversee the voting procedures in regional bases and well as bases per unit.

As every soldier needs to have access and time to cast their vote, various schedules need to be taken into account and thus the stations are open for 72 hours to enable all the soldiers to reach their allocated polling station when they are not on duty.
