An Israeli Arab resident of Shfaram is facing espionage charges for allegedly furnishing Hizbullah with intelligence data which he sold for profit.

Zaher ben Omer Yousfin, 46, was indicted for his alleged acts of treason. He is believed to have met with a Hizbullah agent on one of his trips to Mecca, back in 2007. The Hizbullah operative, Abu Ismail, offered him payment in return for classified information on Israel. He underwent training to enable him to gather intelligence data pertaining to northern IDF bases, focusing on Rosh HaNikra, Akko and Haifa.
