The National Weather Service has posted a severe thunderstorm watch for eastern New York from the mid-Hudson Valley north to Warren County in the southeastern Adirondacks.

Forecasters say showers and thunderstorms, possibly with heavy rain, damaging wind and hail, are possible in the region late Sunday afternoon and evening.

Strong thunderstorms were reported earlier Sunday afternoon in Otsego County in the Finger Lakes and Fulton and Montgomery counties in the Mohawk Valley.
