A Panel poll of a cross section of the dati leumi tzibur shows the Bayit Yehudi party has dropped significantly in popularity polls, the weekly BaSheva Newspaper reports.
Participants were asked to evaluate party leader Naftali Bennett’s performance surrounding the elections for chief rabbis and his party. 70.4% of respondents are not satisfied with Bennett’s performance while 29.6% are.

11% – totally dissatisfied
21.3% – diminished satisfaction
43.9% – somewhat satisfied
20.3% – very satisfied
3.7% – totally satisfied

It would be more interesting to see their response on conscription of yeshiva students, including and especially penal sanctions. I suspect that many of Bayit Yehudi’s supporters are strong advocates of an aggressive settlement policy and are concerned about making enemies of the hareidim – and also many of the Religious Zionist are more religious than zionists and aren’t comfortable with rounding up yeshiva students or closing down yeshivos. Compared to these issues, the squabble of controlling the patronage mill that is the government rabbinate is really insignificant.

#2. I fully agree with your post. I only wish the Chareidi world was equally concerned about the relationship with the rest of the Dati world. Remember, the Shas leader called them “Goyim.” That’s very sad and harmful to everyone.
