An accident was reported near the Yaffo Gate to Jerusalem’s Old City shortly after midnight Wednesday, resulting in two young chareidim sustaining injuries when a vehicle slammed into them.
After initial medical care on the scene, they were transported in “light condition” to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in the city. The hospital reported that the two, 19 and 28-years-old, were taken to the trauma unit. The 19-year-old was treated and released and the second was being prepared for surgical intervention.
The vehicle which struck them fled the scene with police chasing after the driver, who was apprehended a short time later along with a passenger in that vehicle. They were placed under arrest and questioned as police were trying to determine if the incident was an accident or intentional terror attack.
