A 12-year-old boy was pulled from the water of the Nachal Porat nature reserve, Monday morning. MDA paramedics and EMTS provided medical care, including resuscitation, and B’chasdei Hashem, the child’s pulse returned within a few minutes. Their efforts were assisted by United Hatzalah EMS personnel.
MDA paramedic Ihab Elian explains that when he arrived, they had to walk about 2km (1.2 miles) with equipment to the site of the drowning, and the child was lying down, unconscious, in cardiac arrest. CPR and advanced life support were implemented. The young boy responded to the resuscitation and pharmaceutical intervention. A helicopter was summoned for transport from the scene. The child was listed in critical condition when transported.
United Hatzalah EMTs Elchanan Kobani and Yishai Sharbaf who performed CPR said: “…He was then evacuated by a military helicopter to Hadassah Har Hatzofim Hospital in Jerusalem in critical condition.”
