Left-Wing MKs Working To Turn Up The Steam On Netanyahu In Submarine Affair

Following the developments in the submarine affair, members of the Knesset Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee demand answers on the issue.

Members of the Knesset Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee, MK (Blue & White) Ofer Shelah, and MK (Labor) Amar Bar-Lev, approached the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee, Avi Dichter (Likud): “In light of the new revelations in the submarines affair, we can provide testimony that the committee in all its forms has never received reports of the process taking place, either in real time or retroactively. It is your duty to convene the subcommittee on intelligence in order to receive a full report on the decision-making process, the current situation and its implications for the security of the state ”

In light of the recent revelations about Netanyahu’s involvement in the submarine affair – the astonishing approval for Germany to sell submarines to Egypt without the knowledge of security forces and the business relationship with ThyssenKrupp, members of the Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee, MKs Shelah and Bar-Lev sent a letter to the chairman of the committee in which they state:

As longtime members of the Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee and the relevant subcommittees, we can testify that the committee, in all its forms, has never received reports of these moves, either in real time or retroactively. In light of the recent revelations, we believe that it is your duty to convene the Intelligence Subcommittee or any other body that it deems fit to receive a full report on the decision-making process, what the Germans were told about the current situation and its implications for state security.”
