It was apparent to all that the visitors in Jerusalem’s Old City last week had covered the word “Israel” on their baseball type caps as they toured the area. The group of Orthodox Christians booked with Menorah Tours in S. Africa, which caters to religious Christians.
When asked to explain their actions, they stated the tour guide advised them to cover the word “Israel” on the caps they received to avoid angering Muslims while they walked the Old City, the Israel Post reports.
The report adds the Ministry of Tourism feels the matter is a most serious one and the matter is being probed.
Menorah Tours Manager Rickey Stein, a minister, explains that he has been sending groups to Israel for 50 years and he remains a major supporter of the country. He adds that generally speaking, they also distribute “I Love Israel” tee shirts to groups traveling to Israel. He explains the group was using a local guide, adding when the group returns to S. Africa the matter will be probed.

This hateful tour guide and his group of vacationers are certainly welcomed and encouraged to for travel elsewhere. I can suggest wonderful destinations including dictatorship Cuba, communist Russia, Iran, or North Korea. Better yet, if they don’t want to see anything that has to do with Jews or Israel- Antarctica has some wonderful beaches and sights for them. Next time the guide brings them to Israel, he should provide other caps, such as Chicago Cubs or Big Bird, so no one will be “offended”.
