It would appear that the Palestinians have now marked the Jordan Valley Highway as the next test case towards determining the response of Israeli security forces to their potentially murderous attacks. Over recent days, a group of some 100 Palestinians marched along the road with various flags, including the Palestinian flag, compelling vehicles to slow down to almost total stop. When the vehicles slow down, they look to identify a Jewish vehicle, and when they did, they hurled large stones and its windshield.
One motorist captured the attack on his dashcam. The motorist, Shalom Zanzuri, reported the incident to Kikar Shabbos News. He reports the incident occurred near the PA (Palestinian Authority) village of Ujah.
Zanzuri explains, “I did not immediately comprehend that they had blocked the entire road. I still moved up trying to pass them, and only when I got a bit closer that I realized the road was blocked. Only when analyzing the dashcam later on today realize that other vehicles understood what was taking place before I did, and they made a U-turn earlier on, thereby avoiding the situation.
Zanzuri adds, “I locked the doors to the vehicle and hope the incident would pass peacefully. Suddenly I heard a boom, and I and the passenger seated at my side was suddenly full of shards of glass from a window. We then saw one of the Arabs left a very large stone from the shoulder of the road, which he then used to smash the vehicle’s rear window.
“B’chasdei Shomayim there were no physical injuries despite the damage to the vehicle. Will most fortunate that immediately after the windows were smashed, we were able to continue driving, and we immediately dialed the police at the same time. Once we informed them that we are not in need of medical attention, we were told to report to a police station to fill out a formal report of the incident.”
The report continues, and when he got to Jerusalem, he did indeed head straight for police station we filled out a report of the attack. While they did take the report, and he received the necessary paperwork from police, but it was clear they were not particularly interested in the details. In fact, when he read over the report to see what the policeman had written, he sort that it stated the front windshield of the vehicle had been smashed when in fact it was the rear window that had been smashed. The victim added that he is a resident of the Gush Etzion area, we unfortunately, rock throwing attacks on a daily occurrence. “Here, because the event was captured on camera, the media is interested in the story, but one cannot say the same for the police,” Zanzuri concluded.
The following is a response from Israel police: Immediately upon receiving the report of the incident and investigation was launched in the appropriate investigatory measures will be taken in the case to determine exactly what occurred. The complainant filed report in Jerusalem regarding something that occurred in Yosh (Yehuda Shomron), and therefore the cases been forwarded to the appropriate station as well as issuing the paperwork for him for government payment of the damage.
