The bill heading to Knesset sponsored by MK (Bayit Yehudi) Zevulun Kalfa seeks to lift the age ceiling for candidates running for the post of Chief Rabbis of Israel. This will clear the way for the candidacy of Rabbi Yaakov Ariel Shlita in the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi race.
After the parties involved, Bayit Yehudi and Shas agreed to move ahead with the bill, Rabbi Chaim Druckman Shlita turned to Rabbi David Stav, asking him to drop out of the race. According to Srugim, Rabbi Stav turned down the rav’s request at this time since the bill to remove the age ceiling of 70 has yet to pass in Knesset.
When asked to comment on the events, persons close to Rav Stav released a statement that Rabbi Stav will not run against Rabbi Yaakov Ariel Shlita.

Who does Rav Stav think he is, not listening to a Gadol Hador like Hagaon Rav Drukman Shlita, and DasTorah that has been given. The letter signed last night by some of the greatest Rabbonim in the Dati Leumi camp should tell Rav Stav to get off his high horse and get out. He needs to understand that Rav Ariel Shlita is more qualified and has more knowledge of Torah.
#1 Rav Stav has told the olem time after time he will not run against Rav Ariel, he is to be believed. There are doubts that these new bills will be ratified and he is remaining in the running for that reason.
He needs to pull out now, he is ruining it for Rav Ariel, out of respect to a Gadol he must withdraw
“Who does Rav Stav think he is” – who do YOU think you are?!
#4 Rabbi Yoni since you do not know who I am it would be better that you do not question my integrity. I am referring to the Das Torah that was given. In addition we go according to the majority/rov and the majority of Gedolim in the Dati Leumi sector want him to pull out. I would appreciate if you would not attack me personally since you do not know me and I do not know you.
