U.S. Ambassador Friedman and Sen. Lindsey Graham Tour Hamas Terror Tunnel and Gaza Border

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) joined U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman for a tour of a terror tunnel built by Hamas on Israel’s southern border with Gaza on Sunday. The tour was part of the Senator’s visit to the U.S. ally state in the hopes of understanding some of the security needs of the country first hand.

Both Graham and Friedman posted pictures of themselves on the tour. The IDF had discovered the tunnel while attempting to neutralize the terror organization’s ability to conduct cross-border attacks and to transfer weapons to its operatives inside of Israel.

IDF Brigadier General Eliezer Toledano, the commander of Israel’s Gaza division, accompanied the two VIPs on the trip. IDF southern command chief Major General Herzi Halevi was also on hand and briefed the two during their trip to the Gaza border area.

Friedman took to Twitter and posted: “With @LindseyGrahamSC today touring a Gaza terror tunnel. Cost of tunnel = cost of 2 new schools = cost of 30 new homes. #Hamas consistently makes the wrong choices for the people of #Gaza. Heartbreaking.”

Graham responded on Twitter and said: “With @USAmbIsrael David Friedman inspecting a Gaza tunnel. The tunnels have been used by groups like Hamas to smuggle weapons and terrorize Israeli citizens.”

Also on Graham’s itinerary was a stop at Yad Vashem and a meeting with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. Graham will head north on Monday to the Golan Heights.
