An incident occurred on Sunday morning as tens of thousands of soldiers around the country were heading back to their basis. This incident took place in the Beersheva train station, when either a Bedouin or Druse soldier, an Arab- appearing male, entered the station and when instructed to do so, refused to identify himself.
The soldier, who in the photo does not appear to be in uniform, was instructed to present identification and place his bag into the x-ray machine for inspection. He refused both, unwilling to show ID or place his bag for inspection. As a result, a guard informed him that he was being detained and then he simultaneously phoned his officer. A scuffle followed, during which the stock of one of the security guard’s weapons struck the ‘suspect’, injuring him.
Police arrived and some of the guards, including the shift supervisor, and the soldier, were all detained for questioning.
