President Obama’s troubles with the latest scandals that include the cover-up of the Benghazi attacks, the IRS targeting conservative organizations and the Department of Justice phone tapping AP reporters, have motivated Republicans to energize the base a year ahead of the midterm elections in 2014.
Gov. Haley Barbour, speaking to a selected group of Republican insiders known as the NY Meeting group, told attendees at the monthly Monday night meeting that Republicans must divert all the energy and resources to beat the Democrats, rather than primary Republican incumbents.
The Republican Jewish Coalition, mainly sponsored by Billionaire mogul Sheldon Adelson, took note of that call in fundraising ahead of time, off the refreshed scandals. “Based on what we already know, these Obama administration scandals are extremely troubling and reinforce Americans’ fears of an overly bureaucratic, intrusive, expansive, and out-of-control government,” writes Matt Brooks, the Republican Jewish coalition’s executive director, in a email to supporters.
“That is why it is so important that the RJC has the resources to help Republicans in the critical work ahead. Support the RJC now so we can defeat the Democrats and fight to restore faith and trust in our government,” the email reads.
