SECURITY/DEFENSE:

*Mortar shells and Qassam rockets were fired into southern Israel on Monday afternoon. No injuries.

*Two wanted suspects were apprehended by IDF soldiers in the Qalqilye area. They were also found in possession of an automatic weapon and a handgun. No injuries.

*A motorist was targeted in a rock-throwing attack in the el-Aroub area, south of Gush Etzion. No injuries.

*Rock-throwing attack reported near Marda, in the Trans-Samaria Highway area of Shomron. No injuries.

*Fire department officials call on Israelis to exercise caution and adhere to fire precaution procedure in light of the hot and dry sharav heat-wave conditions. The latest heat wave sent firefighters scrambling on Monday, with brush fires forcing rescue services to evacuate hundreds of travelers from various locations throughout the country.

*Universities in Gaza close on Monday, explaining students are unable to reach school due to fuel shortage.

*Arabs hurled rocks at an Israeli motorist near Tel Sheva in the Negev on Monday morning. No injuries.
