Once again, travelers may be the target of an expanding Histadrut National Labor Federation strike.
As government workers continue expanding sanctions, impacting an increasing number of government agencies, senior Histadrut labor official Yaakov Yaakobi is threatening the target following Pesach will most likely be Ben-Gurion International Airport.
Yaakobi promises a long open-ended strike, stating “no government service will be exempt from the strike” until the nation’s labor union achieves its objectives.
The strike revolves around what the union views as a policy of favoritism to the benefit of Israel Discount Bank while other banks, including the Histadrut’s Yahav Bank are not fortunate enough to be in the elite club.
Depending when such a strike in the nation’s airport is declared, it could impact thousands or even tens of thousands of travelers heading home to and from Israel after the weeklong Pesach yom tov.
