Gafne And Litzman Meet To Strategize Election Campaign

After the machlokes that accompanied municipal elections between Degel Hatorah and Agudas Yisrael, the parties must now face reality ahead of elections for the 21st Knesset, which are set for April 9, 2019. Deputy Minister Yaakov Litzman of Agudas Yisrael met on Sunday evening in the Degel office in Bnei Brak with Moshe Gafne, the chairman of Degel Hatorah.

The decision has already been reached to unite ahead of elections, to run on a single combined list, and now the two parties have to open an election campaign headquarters. It is likely that they will open separate campaign offices, which both parties feel will serve to maximize the votes for each respective party.

The meeting was held at the Degel Hatorah House in Bnei Brak, where it was agreed that there will be a central election committee in order to maximize the number of voters for the party from within the general chareidi public. In addition, a special committee will work to expand the chareidi electorate’s potential to meet new and additional audiences.

In the coming days, the details will be finalized in preparation for an extensive campaign and the activation of tens of thousands of activists all over the country for the success of the campaign.

MK Gafne said after the meeting: “It is very important to start the campaign early, as opposed to what happened in the past. Because the message we convey to the chareidi public as well as to the general public is important, because the main issue here is that we are struggling with Jewish issues and material issues that concern the public. ”

Gafne added: “The very fact that we are starting to act early, before the other parties did so, proves that there is no disagreement between us as in the past.”

Deputy Minister Yaakov Litzman said after the meeting: “We demonstrated an achdus when we signed a rare joint agreement before the time of submission of the lists, contrary to what happened over the years, earlier than usual in order to bring the party to victory in the elections. B’Siyata Dishmaya we have achieved impressive achievements in the last term, and in light of the great challenges facing chareidi Yiddishkheit, we need to pull it together earlier than usual in order to win the party’s victory in the elections.
