Tech developers have been working on apps they hope will be useful for riders on New York City’s transit system.

They’ve been spending the weekend at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University in Brooklyn.

The hackathon started Saturday with officials telling the developers what kind of issues they were looking to have solved and what kind of data from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority is available.

The app creators are working in small groups to come up with app ideas and build them. The final presentations are scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
