After a thorough Federal investigation and an internal audit by NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, authorities have uncovered the possible theft of personal identity information, including names, phone numbers and social security numbers of approximately 40,000 hospital patients, has learned.
A hospital spokesperson said they do not believe any health-related information was included.
In a statement released Friday by the hospital, officials are in the process of informing all affected patients in writing and via phone calls.
