The heads of the Otzma Yehudit party, Dr. Michael Ben-Ari, Itamar Ben-Givir, Baruch Marzel and Bentzion Gupstein, met with HaRav Dov Lior, a leader posek in the dati leumi community. The meeting was held in Rav Lior Jerusalem apartment in the Mt. Scopus neighborhood.
They told the rav of the party’s success in bringing in new members, enlisting thousands around the country. The campaign ended in a timely fashion, during the same week the decision was made to head to early elections.
Rabbi Lior said that he was very supportive of creating a significant technical bloc that would attract many voters, but nevertheless he said that it was not at any price, and that it would not be possible to do so with any party. “We have to define a common denominator on which to base the technical bloc, and to define red lines for the activity of the bloc,” the rabbi said.
The rabbi also noted to the Otzma leaders his deep impression of the great support they receive from all walks of life in Israel, as he saw with his own eyes at the party’s launching of the party’s campaign in Bat Yam a few weeks ago.
The leaders of the party also told the rabbi that they welcome Bezalel Smotrich to lead Ichud Leumi, and believe that his wisdom will of course contribute to building such a bloc, and they hope, like many in the national religious public, that the members of the Bayit Yehudi will soon recover from the severe blow they received as a result of the blow they received, the surprising departure of former party chairman Naftali Bennet and will succeed in building a suitable representation that could also be added to the technical bloc.”
They also told the rav that in recent months, hundreds of branches of the party have been set up around the country, and that in recent days, they had begun to display signs throughout the country, with the call “Returning the Force to the IDF – We Need Otzma Yehudit in Knesset”.
