The Yisrael Beitenu party on Monday 18 Iyar 5773 released a statement expressing support for a policy of imposing sanctions on yeshivos that fail to cooperate with the government’s new effort to compel yeshivos to introduce core subjects into the curriculum.
The party also commented on its union with the Likud party, explaining the future of the union depends on the Likud’s ruling body and its willingness to support a bill calling for a national referendum to approve and final accord signed with the PA (Palestinian Authority). Yisrael Beitenu feels that a national referendum represents “running from one’s responsibilities” and is therefore opposed to the bill.
