According to a report in the daily Haaretz on Wednesday, 14 Iyar 5773, former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was attending a Goldman Sachs function in London attended by 30 businessmen, most Israeli. Olmert is quoted telling them he plans to run for prime minister again in the next election.
Olmert reportedly addressed that forum in English, commenting on the state of affairs in Israel today, speaking positively regarding Yair Lapid’s success in the last election. Olmert feels the problem with the last elections was that no one ran against Netanyahu.
Olmert stressed he has decided to run in the next election, but it appears he has not decided on which party he will affiliate.
Olmert spokesman Amir Dan stated it was a private closed event attended by a small number of people and therefore he does not plan to respond.
