Senator-elect Mitt Romney (R-UT) on Wednesday sat down with CNN’s Jake Tapper discuss the scathing opinion piece he wrote in The Washington Post about President Trump’s character.
According to Romney, Trump made a number of decisions he disagreed with, including pulling out of Syria abruptly.

One suspects that Romney is positioning himself to run for president, especially if Trump decides not to run (gets tired of the harassment) or if Trump moves sharply to the “right” to satisfy his base, while the Democrats move sharply to the left to satisfy their base, leaving room for a centrist “fusion” to appeal to the conservative Democrats and the moderate Republicans (who until two years ago were the Republican mainstream). Of course the Democrats may decide to stick to past practice and adopt a moderate platform while intending to go socialists after the election, or Trump could decide his base is secure and will try to appeal to the center with support for a strong foregin policy, support for immigration and support for trade.
In 2012 over 8,000,000 Republicans stayed home and did not vote for Romney. He just made sure next time 30,000,000 will stay home.
